Revelation 21:27
Nothing impure will ever enter it, nor will anyone who does what is
shameful or deceitful, but only those
whose names are written in the
Lamb's book of life.
Americans are coming upon a season where we as
Americans get to have our voices heard. It is time to vote
for our President, Senators, Congressmen, Mayors, etc. As
Christians we have only
one way to vote, and that is with the Biblical
truths given to each of us through the Holy Spirit and the written
Word
of God.
America has two main political parties, Democrat and
Republican, neither of which are considered Christian in their
political views, although there is one closer than the other. If
we vote only for the party, are we voting based upon Biblical truths or
party loyalty? It is important that we look at each individual
running for office. We must examine them each to see if they
stand for God’s truths or for selfish ambitions and sinful
desires. 1 John 4:5-6;
Romans 8:5; Gal 5:19-21; Romans 1:24-28
I have heard many reasons for why people vote the
way they do and each person can justify the way they vote. But if
we profess to be Christians, our desire should be to serve God
and to worship God, separating our standards from that of the
self-centered nature of the nonbeliever.
It is true that voting is a personal thing,
but how does our vote line up with the Word of God. How
does it line up with our relationship
with God? What are the
motives for our heart? What does our vote tell us about our
relationship and our true beliefs?--Not what we profess to
believe. You see, when we vote we are putting in action our
beliefs. A look at who we vote for and why we vote the way we do
will tell us a lot about what we truly believe. Psalm 119:36
I’m saying this because I’ve heard a lot about
medicare and health care issues. Which I see nothing wrong with
except when we start putting our faith in the system (government)
rather than in God, there lies the problem. Matt 6:19-34 Are we
willing to forsake the truth of God’s Word so the government can take
care of us? Is this God’s desire for us?
There are many who are willing to vote for a
candidate who says he will improve our healthcare and medicare benefits
while the candidate fully supports abortion and gay marriage. Can
anyone see the wrong in this rational for our vote? We cannot put
our head in the sand and ignore the fact of his stance and be
uninformed about the truth. As I said, voting is private,
you and I may not know how our friends or even spouses vote, but God
not only knows who we’ve voted for but He also knows our motives (our
heart) for the vote. Is it based upon selfish motives or upon
God’s truths and commands? Matt
15:19; 1 Cor 4:5; Ex 20:1-17; Lev 18:21-22,24 (whole chapter)
Now lets talk about the Lamb’s book of life, the
book that will be opened on Judgment Day, the book that all mankind
will be judged by. Our voting record will be there. Imagine
yourself standing before God having to give an account for your voting
record. What will you say? Matt
12:36; 2 Cor 5:10
Did we vote for killing the unborn, removing God’s
presence in our government, schools, work place, and to support gay
marriage? Or did we vote to protect the unborn, to keep God in
all aspects of our life, and to preserve marriage being between one
woman and one man. Gen
2:24: For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and
be united to his wife, and they will become one flesh. God
knows our votes, each one of them.
I don’t know about you, but I have enough day to day
struggles in keeping my eyes focused on the goals set before me without
willfully and blatantly approving and accepting abortion and
homosexuality, as well as removing God from critical aspects of my
life.
There is something else we need to remember,
if we don’t disagree, that means we agree. Matt 12:30 This means you
do not have the luxury to say
“I’m just voting for health care not
abortion.” I wouldn’t take the chance to split hairs like that, I
don’t think God sees it that way. He expects our yes to be yes
and our no to be no. Matt
5:37; James 5:12
Is it okay to justify our votes by saying, “Abortion
and homosexuality don’t affect me, but health care does.” Is this
not one of the most selfish statements you have ever heard?
I am not one of those radical people who approve the
bombing of abortion clinics and sending hate mail to the
homosexuals. But I am passionate about Biblical truths.
Both abortion and homosexual activities have been gone over time and
time again and God has not changed His mind, they are still an
abomination in His sight. Lev.
18:21-22 The human mind has gotten so frail that some think
if we remove any reference of abortion and homosexuality from the
Bible, then it did not exist and it is now acceptable. If we look
in the last chapter of the Bible, we find that God fully expected this
to happen, so He put in a small reminder to each of us who would like
to put words in His mouth and rewrite the rules of life. Rev 22:18-19
We have many warnings if only we would heed the
warnings. God has provided all we need and gives no room for
excuses. John 15:22; Rom 1:20
We have the how-to-manual (the Bible), but it is no
one’s fault but our own if we don’t read and apply God’s truth to our
life. God has made every provision to ensure our salvation, but
it is up to us to accept these provisions. There are countries
that have made it illegal to write what I have just written, and we
need to be aware that if we don't stand up for the truth of Jesus
Christ today, it will be too late tomorrow.
God will hold each one of us accountable
for how we
vote and how
we persuade others to vote. Personally I don’t need
selfish, willful disobedience
logged into the Lambs Book Of Life on my
behalf.
Revelation
21:27
Nothing impure will ever enter it, nor
will anyone who does what is shameful or deceitful, but only those
whose names are written in the Lamb's book of life.
It is my desire to strive for a pure life. I
do know, however, that I will never attain a life of purity but
that is not a reason to cease striving for that purity. Purity is
defined as, “unmixed with other.” Another way to put it is we
can’t drink from the cup of the Lord and the cup of the devil. 3 John 1:11; Luke 6:45; Deut 25:15-17
Do we really desire to have God a part of our entire
life? Do we include Him in our voting? Do we vote to
attempt to keep Him out of part of our life? Do we vote to
sacrifice children for our selfish desires? Do we vote to
undermine what God intends for us in marriage? Do we vote to
support sexual immorality? We have only touched on a few things
that attack God’s truths that we vote on. There are many
more. Spend some time looking at what God says. Eph 5:1-20; Lev 18; Is 5:20; Heb
12:1-17; Jer 1:5; Psalm 139:13-16; Romans 1:20-32; Heb 13:4; and there
are many more. Are you living and
acting for God? Or
when it comes right down to it do you think of yourself first and vote
that way? No matter what your political persuasion is, there is
one thing for sure, that we cannot remove God from our voting and
political process and we most definitely cannot remove God’s truths
from our life.
Are you voting to glorify God, or are you voting to
push God out of our public life? Just a thought in closing, A
vote for abortion and immorality is a vote against God’s truth and
commands. How do you vote?
